I must admit that when I first saw the title of this game, I was a little unimpressed. After all, I thought, who wants to play a game about email. Boy was I wrong. This is a very fun and enjoyable game. A throwback to the games of the 80’s to be sure but fun nonetheless.
The premise of the game is that you are in a ship and must collect the email sent through a wormhole and help it to reach the next wormhole to be delivered. Along the way, you can acquire a squad of spaceships as well as powerups to help you out. You must avoid the enemy ships while destroying the enemy bases to acquire more ships to help you.
The graphics are very simple and straight forward. You can see where you need to go but not how to get there. You have a kind of a maze to get through with the walls being made up of zigzaggy lines. The only way you know which direction to go is by an arrow on the screen letting you know.
The only real problem I had with this game was with the controller layout. You use the left stick to steer and the right to fire. Beyond that, the A, B, X and Y buttons are all used for different things but the two triggers and the two buttons are all used for the same function. I think the controls would have worked better had the developer used the triggers and buttons for different functions instead as I don’t like having to take my hand off the fire stick if I want to make use of a different function. But ah well, guess we can’t have it all.
All in all, I would recommend this game. It is very easy to figure out and fun to play.
