Horn Swaggle Islands comes to you from the folks at Pencel Games.
Horn Swaggle Islands as you may or may not have guessed is a game about pirates and the objective is to stop enemy pirates taking control of your archipelago of islands. This is achieved by building various defensive structures such as towers, walls and cannons. The enemy pirates need to make their way from the green flags to the red flags and each time one of them does, you lose a life.
I haven’t a clue what was happening as I’m usually pretty good at this sort of game, but I couldn’t get past the second level! The first level being the tutorial which explains the rules and controls system for the game. One of the rules is that you are not allowed to block off the enemy pirates route, otherwise the game would be akin to shooting fish in a barrel.
Eventually, I figured out the trick was to create routes that the pirates were forced to follow, so that they ran the gauntlet so to speak (no doubt, this was mentioned in the tutorial, but I kinda skimmed through that, wanting to get straight to the action). This method had me kicking a bit more serious butt, until the tenth wave of enemies and I was yet again defeated!
Horn Swaggle Islands comes with the sort of pirate music that you would expect from a game of this theme and 12 different levels playable on three different difficulty levels; Cabin Boy, Captain and Pirate King. This was when I noticed my error; I was playing on Captain difficulty when I really have the skill of a Cabin Boy to be honest
The game has a really great old parchment and ye olde script type look and feel to it which fits in perfectly with the theme.
Horn Swaggle Islands certainly provides hours of entertainment and I would say is definitely worth checking out.
