Jungle Blocks is the next on the list…
Jungle Blocks is a theme based BreakOut Clone with a few unique differences. The theme is obviously jungle based with some really good cartoon artwork of what appears to be possibly South American Inca structures.
The differences to the normal style breakout include that you do not have a set amount of lives, but the game is declared to be over when your score reaches zero, as it decreases each time you lose a ball – I’m sure it goes without saying that your score goes up for destroying the blocks. Jungle Blocks also includes a streak multiplier which is increased when you hit multiple blocks in a row. The three different coloured blocks are each with different scores starting at 10 through 20 and 30.
The visual presentation is well done, but after a while the music does start to get a bit repetitive, so luckily the game comes Custom Sounds, allowing you to override the music with your own. However, the same can be said for many games for instance the repetitive music in UFC ’09 is really driving me crazy at the moment!
Another different slant on the traditional BreakOut is the two player option, which allows local co-op play. This mode did take a little bit of getting used to as each players paddle can only navigate in their half of the screen, so after being used to having free roam, it did seem a bit strange.
So if you like BreakOut Clones why not give it a go, if you don’t well then you obviously won’t!
